Buddhist story: Only when you wear jewelry on your body can it show its value

Only when you wear jewelry on your body can it show its value

During his lecture in Hong Kong, Zen Master Jingkong met a lay Buddhist with a lot of gold, silver and jewelry.

One day, the lay Buddhist took the Zen master to the bank to see the jewelry.

When we arrived at the bank, after layers of identification, the guards escorted to the vault, entered the vault, opened the safe, and took out the gold, silver and jewelry. The room suddenly shone brightly.

The Zen master said lightly: Is this yours? Just a little bit?

After hearing this, the lay Buddhist felt very unhappy. He has so much property, but the Zen master actually said it was not his? These jewelry are not dared to take them home, because they are afraid of thieves when they are taken home;I dare not wear it on my hands, for fear of robbery.I had to put it in the bank safe and open it for a week.

The Zen master said: If this is my own, then all the silver buildings in Hong Kong belong to mine. When I got there, I asked someone to take it out and show it to me and touch it. OK, put it away and keep it for me.What are the differences? There is no difference!I don’t dare to wear it or put it at home. How can I be considered my own?

The layman was speechless.

Only when gold, silver and jewelry are worn on their bodies can they show their value. It is much safer to keep it blindly because of fear of being stolen or robbed, but it loses their due value and significance.
