How did the little novice sense the blessings of Nam Mu Avalokiteshvara?

During the Ming Dynasty, there was a small novice who lived in a temple on Putuo Mountain.

One day, Xiao Shami looked at the highest peak of Putuo Mountain, and thought to himself that Putuo Mountain is the dojo of Nanwu Guanyin Bodhisattva, and there are also practitioners on the highest peak? So he set out for the highest peak.

The road is overgrown with grass and thorns. He climbed the highest Buddha Mountain with great difficulty, but he did not find a single practitioner, only a stone tablet engraved with four characters: "Huiji Temple". The little novice vowed to build a dojo here.

He went back and told his master and brothers what he thought, but everyone didn't think so. But the little novice was not discouraged, but came to the main hall and knelt in front of the statue of Guanyin, and prayed sincerely, "Guanyin Bodhisattva, the disciple made a vow to build a dojo, and hoped that the Bodhisattva would protect him, so that the disciple could fulfill his vow." ”

Then the little novice went down the mountain to the crowded downtown area. Sometimes he walks door to door, sometimes he stands at the door of the market, and often sleeps in the nearby deserted temple at night, often not making much money for a few days, but is looked down upon by others.

Before I knew it, three years had passed. He tasted the warmth and coldness of the world, his hair was uncut, his clothes were tattered, like a dirty and poor little beggar, everyone hated him, and he couldn't make money.

On this day, he walked to the river sadly, saw the gurgling water, remembered the long years, and the shattering of the ideals exchanged for three years, and couldn't help but feel sad and cry. At this moment, he saw the wooden fish that he had knocked for three years, which had long been mottled. So he calmed down, sat there and began to knock on the wooden fish, knocking and chanting: "Nan Wu Guanyin Bodhisattva ......" knocked for three days and three nights, and after three days and three nights, he could not see half a figure.

A mile away from the river, there is a rich and noble family, and the old lady of the family has been sick in bed for several years. Although his son was an official in the court, hired a famous doctor, and took good medicine, there was still no improvement. But for three days in a row, the sound of wooden fish in the distance relieved her pain, and she felt happy, cool and comfortable. So the old lady ordered the servant to bring at once the man who knocked on the wooden fish.

The little novice had not eaten for three days and three nights, and had no strength, so he was carried away by the servants. Seeing the miserable appearance of the little novice, the old lady weptly ordered, "Prepare the meal, monk's clothes and shoes immediately, and ask the barber to settle the little master." ”

When the little novice showed his original appearance as a monk, the old lady was even happier when she saw it, and asked puzzledly, "Why are you so miserable?"

The little novice told the old lady everything about the vow to build a dojo. After listening to the old lady, she said with emotion, "It's really Nanwu Guanyin Bodhisattva has a feeling, I invited famous doctors from all over the world, and I can't cure my disease by taking all the precious Chinese medicine, since I heard the sound of the wooden fish you knocked, I was full of comfort, it's incredible!" I'll take care of the construction of the ashram. ”

The old lady told her son in the imperial court to hurry up and build a dojo on the highest peak of Putuo Mountain. So the Huiji Temple of Foding Mountain, the highest peak of Putuo Mountain, was built in this way.

People's circumstances are impermanent and changeable, and whether they are good or bad are determined by the good and bad karmic causes they plant. Xiao Shami made a quiet wish to rebuild the Dharma Propagation Dojo, but due to the obstacles of the black karma of the past, he became like a beggar. But he did not give up in discouragement, but raised his spirit, cheered up his will, and always insisted on asceticism, mentioning righteous thoughts at the most difficult time, reciting the holy name of Nanwu Guanyin Bodhisattva, and sensing the blessings of the Bodhisattva when the karma is ripe, inspiring good deeds to support, and successfully completing the wish of building a temple.

Those who study Buddhism should believe in their wishes, devout their belief in the Dharma, make pure wishes, follow the teachings in their daily lives, benefit sentient beings, and practice pure karma without trying to reciprocate, even if there may be obstacles to the appearance of past karma for the time being, they will inevitably be blessed and protected by the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas and the Dharma Protectors, and their pure and good wishes will definitely be realized.
