Every night I have to give myself a summary: Have I left my faults with my words and actions today?If you bring yesterday's worries to today, you will scold yourself now, and you must never continue it until tomorrow.

The Second Patriarch cut off his arms in the snow and asked for the Dharma, and asked the Patriarch Bodhidharma to give him peace of mind. The Patriarch Bodhidharma just said to him: You must be at ease, bring your heart, I will give you peace of mind!The second ancestor realized the words.We have learned a lot, and we can say that we have been practicing all the time. Why have we not yet realized the truth?We can ask ourselves.One of the reasons is that if you just sleep well and eat well every day and don’t give yourself any pressure on your practice, you may be far from it.

《The Sermon on Zen Forest says that Zen Master Zhenru’s pillow is made of a log.Because the pillow made of logs is hard and round, the head will slide away as soon as it moves.When the pillow ran away, he immediately got up and worked hard.Others told him that you would be too careful when practicing like this.He replied: It is precisely because I have not truly realized the true heart of Prajna that I need to work hard to demand myself.

Those who have achieved success in the past have also given us such teachings.Master Neng’s motto reads: Health is good, but disease is difficult;Good times are in peace, but Prajna is not destined to be.

Of course, enlightenment lies in the heart.But let’s think about it: Why do we want to become monks?Because there are so many causes and conditions for depravity in the world, we will become monks.Especially when you live in a permanent residence, you don’t have to worry about it, just focus on doing the Tao.Another reason why we cannot attain proof: our hearts use too much.Goode repeatedly said that we should do the Tao with sincerity. What does it mean to do the Tao with sincerity?We can experience it ourselves.

There was once a great master who liked to study at the beginning during the process of cultivation and verification. Reading during the day was not enough, and he had to light a lamp to read at night.His master scolded him: Why have you never realized the Dharma?Just too much effort.

Learning is to let us understand how to eliminate worries.The practical application depends on which sutra, which treatise, or which sentence is most useful for me to cure my afflictions, and then I must think about it frequently.Or just recite the Buddha's name and don't have delusions.No matter what method is used, we need to know what it is used for.

When we practice among the crowd, we must first learn to overcome ourselves and not cherish this physical body too much.This impermanent body will eventually be damaged, and the combination of the four elements will inevitably lead to illness.We must take our body lighter and learn to overcome physical obstacles.Some people may say: I use the mental method, and I can practice both walking, standing, sitting and lying down, as long as I use my mind well.But if you can't even overcome yourself, can't stand up in the palace, recite scriptures and don't want to recite them, and don't have the strength to defeat yourself, it is also difficult to achieve something.

You said that you will go to seclusion and practice in the future, practice the Samadhi of the Pratyekabud, etc., maybe you can really do it.You should know that kung fu is accumulated over time. As the great masters said: Like plants, if they grow up violently, even if they grow up, they will definitely not last long.The same is true for practice. It requires a quantitative accumulation to achieve qualitative changes.To end life and death and become a Buddha, it actually starts from every day of ours.

Especially for us monks, we must benefit ourselves and others in every word and act, and allow the Dharma to stay for a long time.So every time we say something and do something, we must consider whether it is beneficial to ourselves and whether it is beneficial to others.Our words and deeds must be able to make our lives believe in and those who have believed in it, so that they can grow their true and indestructible faith in Buddhism.

We often have to give ourselves a check, cherish every day and every moment, and control our current behavior and thoughts, so that our Taoism will surely achieve something.
