The vegan pork ready-to-eat meal cup was launched in 3,600 convenience stores across Taiwan

Vegan News 2020-03-19

Recently, a new vegan instant cup meal was launched in all 3,600 locations of FamilyMart, a major convenience chain across Taiwan. The new Omnipork Instant Meal Cup features both plant-based pork (made with mushroom, soy, rice, and pea protein) and two flavors: Braised Korean Omnipork Noodles and Thai Fried Basil Omnipork with Rice.

Omnipork is made by Right Treat, a brand founded by eco-conscious entrepreneur David Yeung, who also founded (now vegan) grocery store and café chain Green Common in Hong Kong.

"Partnering with FamilyMart to introduce plant-based instant cup meals will make it easier for [residents] in Taiwan to enjoy healthy meals," Yang said. In February, Bafang Yunji, Taiwan's largest fast-food chain, announced that it was now selling one million vegan Omnipork dumplings a week at nearly 1,000 of its locations.

Yeung plans to expand Omnipork throughout Asia to curb meat consumption in the region.
