The dew that purifies the soul

Tibetan Master 2017-02-08

Disputes and conflicts between people, groups, and countries actually come from inner greed.

As early as more than 600 years ago, the great master and famous Buddhist scholar Venerable Wuqueguang once said: The stronger the greed and attachment of a person to anything, the greater the pain he suffers.I have thought about this sentence for a long time and finally gained great benefits and inspiration from it.

Various disputes and disputes in the world often need to be coordinated through laws, but I think the ultimate law is Buddhism. The best way to coordinate various interests and relationships with the compassion and tolerance of Buddhism to extinguish greed, anger and ignorance.I often think that only those who understand Buddhism will finally understand and achieve a sentence from the famous French writer Hugo: The widest thing in the world is the ocean, the sky is wider than the ocean, and the mind is wider than the sky.

I have met Mr. Ying Jianwen, who graduated from the Law Department of Heilongjiang University. He once obtained law in the college and is currently working in a law firm in Hangzhou.Regarding his experience in Buddhism and the use of laws to resolve worldly disputes, I once had an exchange with him:

“I have been in contact with Buddhism for a long time.At first, I accidentally followed my grandmother to the Buddhist temple to burn incense and kowtow. At that time, I only thought about the temple to be lively and fun. I didn’t know the principles of Buddhism, and I didn’t know that you should do good or not do evil when studying Buddhism. The belief at that time was at most just a blind, casual curiosity.

When I was a little older, I went to school and received a traditional materialist education. In the classroom, Buddhism is promoted as idealistic, negative, and destiny, and is excluded from scientific cognition.Even if Buddhism is mentioned in history textbooks, it is just a few sentences that are lightly written, such as playing a certain role in cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries and the development of religious art in our country. These clichés are just about them.Like most young people in the Han area, I was pursuing a lofty ideal at that time. I couldn't explain what the connotation of this ideal was. It was very vague, but I was pursuing it very enthusiastically, so I naturally had a negative attitude towards backward Buddhism. As I grow older and experience, I experience more and more setbacks, so I begin to feel that ideals and reality are often incompatible, and the inner passion forms a strong contrast with the coldness of society, so depression follows.

At that time, I often wondered why it was to be alive? This problem is simply impossible for a child aged 14 or 5.So, I began to read a lot of books, trying to find answers from those who have succeeded and failed in ancient and modern times, both at home and abroad. After comparing their experiences and endings, I found that all those who have done things basically have several common characteristics, namely: firm beliefs, mental health, being kind to others, enjoying temperance, having regular life, being able to let things go, and they rarely have personal subjective arbitrary situations.People who are unsuccessful are generally selfish, like to be petty, lazy, and unprofitable.Even though they have gained prominent status and wealth, they are still spiritually unreliable because of their emptiness and become complete losers.

I learned this truth from it: human thoughts and ideas actually affect their own life and destiny.Correct thinking makes people feel relaxed and happy and have a smooth destiny;Wrong thoughts make people worry and have a difficult future.

People live in society, and life is full of various grudges and prejudices, so their hearts will of course be influenced by the outside world. Moreover, these grievances and prejudices cannot be resolved overnight, not to mention that we ordinary people are controlled by inner attachment and desire. As long as this attachment and desire exists, our hearts will not be able to be calm and we will not be free of worries.During this period, I read some Buddhist books from a philosophical perspective, and felt deeply touched, and began to feel that Buddhism is very reasonable.

I have been wondering, how can people get satisfaction and pleasure? Some people say that everything you want is done. This wish is of course good. Lu Xun once said: What are the complaints about being kind? But people are always insatiable and get something. Maybe they are a little satisfied, but this satisfaction cannot last long, and they soon want to get something else. It’s not bad if you get it, but the key is that you will have troubles when you don’t get it.On the other hand, many people want to take possession of many things in the world, but this is impossible, so things that violate the law and discipline and hide their own minds. It seems that if desires are infinitely expanded, people may not be happy. Some people also say that the country is governed according to law and the law is used to restrict people's behavior, so that people's every move is in line with the requirements of the national will. This kind of idea has the possibility of realization, but it also has various disadvantages. The law can only restrain people's behavior, but cannot control people's hearts, while people's behavior is dominated by thoughts.Do not start from thoughts and only control behaviors, you cannot fundamentally eliminate illegal and criminal behaviors. Moreover, the law cannot include all reality. When people only follow mandatory laws, they often ignore their inner desire for morality. Therefore, to fundamentally solve ideological confusion, law alone is far from enough. After understanding the above principles, I have less worries, my life has become much easier, my work has not felt so tense, and my interpersonal relationships have improved.

By chance, I came to Larung, the sacred land of the snowy land. When I saw many simple and kind monks and lay Buddhists, and the joy and smiles from the heart that came from the bottom of their faces, I suddenly felt like I was coming to a Buddha land on earth.

I cannot see through their inner world, but there is one thing I can deeply feel that Buddhism can indeed bring infinite spiritual power to people, allowing people to face any difficulties bravely and happily.

The equality of sentient beings and the compassionate and moral sentiment advocated by Buddhism is a good medicine to cure the disorder of people's hearts in modern society. It also has a good admonishment effect on various evil deeds that are profit-oriented and only know how to pursue economic benefits and seriously damage the human heart and natural environment.Buddhism also emphasizes being kind to others, attaches importance to cultivating virtuous personality, and pays attention to cause and effect. These have certain auxiliary effects on strengthening social security management, reducing the occurrence of criminal cases, and controlling many unstable social factors. But Buddhism has far more than this. The greatness of Buddhism lies in its ability to completely solve people's ignorance and troubles, help people get rid of the pain of the six realms of reincarnation, and thus obtain eternal great joy. This is something that no other religion can compare with Buddhism. So from the bottom of my heart, Buddhism is truly the nectar that purifies the human heart.”

What Lawyer Ying said makes sense. In the whole society, from social groups to families, they are often in disputes. But if people can truly understand Buddhism, subdue their own continuity, and regard Buddhism as the norm for social and even personal behavior, then I believe that this society will be much more peaceful and people's lives will be more peaceful, happy and fulfilling.

Therefore, whether you want to live a peaceful and peaceful life in this life or in the next life, whether Buddhism needs to be used as the most fundamental guarantee? Please think deeply about it if you have any knowledge.
