Buddhist story: Shaolin story: nectar from the sky

Nice dew from the sky

There is a Gan terrace west of Shaolin Temple in Songshan. There is a legend here: the 18th year of Taihe in the Northern Wei Dynasty. (494Year ),The capital is from Pingcheng (Datong City today )Moving to Luoyang, there were a group of monks from the Indian Kingdom, including the founder of Shaolin Temple in Songshan. (《Wei Shu? Shi Lao Zhi" says Padao )。

Batuo likes tranquility. One day, he met the Chinese novice Huiguang on the street. After reporting to the Ming Dynasty, the two came to the Dafawang Temple in Songshan. They found that the hall was in ruins and dust covered the Buddha's face. The former Buddhist sewer has now become a dilapidated temple. They came to the newly established Songyang Temple and asked the monk Zhou: What sutras do the monk recite every day? The answer was: Chapter 42 of every day (through )。Asked again: Who is the master? Answer: You can understand without a teacher! After detailed investigation, Batuo believed that Songshan is indeed a spiritual mountain, although there are few clouds in front of him (through )Lack of rain (Law ),But it is this great opportunity for me to open up a temple and promote Buddhism.

When Batuo returned to Luoyang, the new capital of the Wei Dynasty, Emperor Xiaowen of Wei asked him how he felt in Songshan.Batuo replied: The mountain is Lingshan, which means long-term drought. (Chinese )Lack of rain (Law )。Emperor Xiaowen of Wei did not agree with Batu’s puns and said casually: It has been raining recently, how can it be said that it is a long drought and lacks rain? Master Batu further explained: Since the Later Han Dynasty, Buddhism has been introduced to Song Dynasty. (Mountain )Luo (Positive ),It has been more than 400 years since then, and the sutras are still 42 chapters, and there is no teaching by the monks! At this time, Emperor Xiaowen of Wei understood that the Songshan Buddhism, which Ba Duo said, was still at the level of the Later Han Dynasty more than 400 years ago, and said: Then, Master, please go to Songshan to cultivate the clouds. (through )Rain (Law )Bar.Batuo said: The emperor asked me to go to Songshan to promote Buddhism, which is exactly what I wish, but there is even more nectar coming from heaven! Emperor Xiaowen of Wei said: It is hard to find a high sky.The smart novice Huiguang hurriedly said: The emperor will represent the heaven.Emperor Xiaowen of Wei knew in his heart that the master and disciple were asking for support from the court, so he issued an imperial edict and built a new temple for Batu in the jungle of Shaoshi Shanyin. This is the current Shaolin Temple. The 19th year of Taihe (495Year ),When Shaolin Temple was completed, Emperor Xiaowen of Wei ordered Batu to be the master of the temple, and he and two other eminent monks from Tianzhu Kingdom, namely Lenamoti and Bodhi Liuzhi, translated the sutras and preached the Dharma on the Sutra Translation Platform of Shaolin Temple.Twenty years of Taihe (496Year )On the eighth day of the April 19th, on the Christmas Day of Buddha Shakyamuni, three masters, Batu, Lena and Liuzhi, held a great Dharma meeting on the stage of transcribing the scriptures, and thousands of people listened to the Dharma on the spot.Just as the three masters were preaching on the stage, five lotus clouds surged from the Five Breasts Peaks, and a breeze and drizzle suddenly started. Everyone present was moistened by nectar and cheers sang together: nectar from the sky!

This is the story of the scriptures translated by Batuo and the nectar from heaven.
