Old Monk Jinghui [Wu Mingshan: Most of the people here today are meditating here.Some come every day, some come often, some come every now and then, and some come occasionally.We have been meditating here for so long. Today we have the opportunity to listen to the old monk’s teachings on meditation, which should be a very effective guide for everyone.Although I often meditate here just by sitting, I have never been able to guide everyone.Today I invite the old monk to come here, hoping that everyone can learn more in-depth methods of meditation.OK! Now let’s ask the old monk to give me a lecture. ]Tomorrow is the anniversary of Buddha's enlightenment.Today is the seventh day of the lunar month and tomorrow is the eighth day of the lunar month.In ordinary temples, there is a consecration of the Buddha tonight.I arrived here only after the end of the Zhenji Zen Forest Buddha.The most important thing we meditate is that Shakyamuni Buddha saw the stars at night under the Bodhi tree and had great enlightenment. He conveyed to us a message: There is such a very wonderful thing in life.This information was transmitted from Sakyamuni Buddha in the early morning of tomorrow more than 2,500 years ago.This is what we mean by meditating here today.Sakyamuni Buddha said that he was following the path of an ancient immortal.In other words, all Buddhas have experienced this message in the past, and Shakyamuni Buddha has experienced it again.Shakyamuni Buddha is not creating the truth, he discovers the truth, and he tells us the process of discovering the truth. This is what he said, the so-called Three Twelve Divisions.The Three Twelve Divisions solve this problem.That is to say the process of how he discovered the truth.And we also tell us that as long as we personally experience the process of practice by Sakyamuni Buddha, we all have the opportunity to discover the truth and the possibility of discovering the truth.This means that we often say that everyone has Buddha nature and everyone can become a Buddha.I think we are meditating here. Most of us understand this. We want to follow the path that Sakyamuni Buddha has taken, follow the footsteps of Sakyamuni Buddha, follow the footsteps of ancestors of all generations, and re-lead the path of becoming a Buddha.So it makes a lot of sense.This is the most important thing in life.Officials can not do it, and wealth can not be made, and this thing must be done.Why do you say so?Shakyamuni Buddha is a prince.He became a monk in nineteen, and if he did not start a family, he would soon become a king.He felt that being a king was indeed very important to govern the country and take care of the people, but it was still a trivial thing than discovering the truth.So he gave up the throne, gave up his wealth, gave up his arrogant wife and beautiful concubines, gave up all the enjoyment of the world, and resolutely led his five servants to the deep mountains and forests.What does that mean?It means that the most important thing in life is to overcome all your improper desires through practice and complete your greatest mission, which is to discover the truth and use the light of truth to illuminate the darkness of the world.What is the darkness in the world?It's just a worries.All kinds of unreasonable, incorrect, contrary to the truth, and contrary to conscience arising from troubles are darkness.We Chinese often say "lawlessness". If we cannot be lawless, we cannot be lawless, and lawlessness means darkness.Shakyamuni Buddha set an example for us. We are following Shakyamuni and being disciples and students of Shakyamuni Buddha. When we meet the path that Shakyamuni Buddha has walked, we will walk it again.However, some people still have no chance to discover the truth in their entire lives;Some people turn back halfway through the journey, thinking that the road is too difficult and far away.After Buddhism was introduced to China, China was an ancient civilization. Chinese culture and Indian culture had the same similarities, but Chinese culture was very simple, unlike Indian culture.You read the words in the Buddhist scriptures over and over again. There is no such thing as Chinese, it is very concise.What does it mean to be very concise?It means it takes fewer detours and reveals it in one sentence.After the Buddhist spirit of enlightenment came into contact with Chinese civilization, it produced sudden enlightenment and the Zen of the ancestors.Although ideas such as sudden enlightenment have been revealed in Buddhist scriptures for a long time, in terms of true practice, the Zen method passed down by Zen Buddhism is unique in the history of world Buddhism.There is also a saying in Buddhist scriptures that "seeing is like breaking a stone". Seeing the Tao is like a hammer smashing a stone open, "one breaks and two opens", without any involvement, which is also the meaning of suddenness."Breaking and breaking is like breaking lotus root, and the lotus root is broken and connected."It is difficult to eliminate confusion, but it is not difficult to see the truth.In other words, the concept of sudden enlightenment can be presented everywhere in Buddhist scriptures, but after Buddhism was introduced to China, this sudden enlightenment spirit was concentratedly reflected in the Zen of the ancestors taught by Bodhidharma.The Zen of the ancestors taught by Bodhidharma has been passed down to this day, and it is the method of "directly pointing to the heart of the human heart, seeing the nature and becoming a Buddha".Suddenly transcend, sudden enlightenment.After the sudden enlightenment, according to the requirements of enlightenment, we must gradually break all the habits that should be eliminated, so that what we do is consistent with what we understand, so that what we say is consistent with what we do, and that theory and practice are consistent.This is the relationship between cultivation and enlightenment.

How can we enter such a state?There are all kinds of methods.You may also find some ways to enter this state of sudden enlightenment and suddenly see the truth.These methods are now called "Who is the one who recites the Buddha's name?" in Zen temples in various places. This is called "Studying the koan".The purpose of this placement is to make our minds rise up and concentrate our thoughts on the same object.This object is called "realm", the environment in the Buddhist scriptures.If our minds, which are able to remain undisturbed, are concentrated in the same state, we will produce meditation.This state is expressed in the meditation book as "one mind", and the method of reciting the Buddha's name is called "one mind without confusion".If you are not confused, you can produce meditation.One mind is meditation itself.Wisdom is gained from one mind and unconfused.We people in the world also pay attention to concentrating our energy and doing a good job in our work.Concentrating energy means being one-stop.Only by concentrating your energy can you think about a problem seriously and think about a problem deeply, so that your thoughts will not be distracted, and your thinking will be thorough, rigorous, and in-depth.This is called the mind-on-one nature in meditation.In order to enable modern people to understand this meaning and to combine the methods of meditation with modern life, I proposed four stages of meditation.I mentioned these four stages at the Zen Culture Summer Camp at Sizu Temple in 2006, which is my speech in the 6th issue of Zhengjue Magazine in 2006.The first stage of these four stages is, do we sit here, and do we sit here?When a person sits here, his heart must be at peace with the present and keep his body and mind in harmony.Have you done this?It may be possible to do it most of the time, but there are times when the thinking is getting worse.When my thoughts are getting worse, my thoughts leave this seat, go home, go back to the street, go back to the restaurant, go to this cup of tea, not staying in the present.The body is settled in the present moment and the mind is settled in the present moment. This is the first step of kung fu.How long does it take to keep your body and mind consistent and stay in the present?It will take at least three months to do this.It takes about three years to sit like this, and it will take you to sit occasionally, and it will take you to sit again and again.Thinking of this thing at all times and doing it all the time, uninterrupted for three years, can probably keep the body and mind in harmony.Wherever you are, your heart is where you are.This is to settle for the present.The so-called present moment is said to have left when you are at peace, and your thoughts will not stop.What should I do if I don’t stop?Just stay calm in the present moment every thought, so that you can stabilize your skills and keep your body and mind in harmony.This is a trick.At this stage, you can pay attention to three points.How can we settle for the present?First of all, focus.Focus on one idea.Refer to the koan and focus;Recite Amitabha Buddha and focus;Chant mantras and focus.Always keep an eye on that topic and don't change it.Secondly, it must be clear and clear.After focusing, your heart often calms down.If you sink, you will easily become drowsy.At this time, we must maintain a pure and bright heart.The pure one has no delusions, and the light one has no darkness.The heart is not dark, but there is light.It's like a mirror is free of dust.The heart is bright, the heart is bright.This is also a state of cultivation, and only when you go to that place can you experience it.

The third point should be noted that focus and clear-headedness must be continuous and dense.It is dense, like the flowing water of a stream.Focus should be dense and Qingming Festival should be dense.Pay attention to these three key points when staying at the moment.Once you master these three key points, you have a specific method, and it is possible to settle in the present moment.This is the first stage.The second stage is called keeping one's own way.This refers to the method you use.Don’t chant a few sentences today, chant a few sentences tomorrow, chant a few sentences on Om Mani Bami Hum, and chant a few sentences on Amitabha Buddha the day after tomorrow.Then it will be difficult to achieve the state of mind.You must stick to a method and not change it until there is a complete breakthrough.Keep one's own way, this method has the same meaning as the mind-on-one nature.This is a method used by all those who practiced Taoism before Sakyamuni Buddha in India, and it is also a method used by all those who practiced the mind and cultivated their nature before in China.Taoism is called Baoyi.The word "one" is very important.Of course, Buddhism did not use this "one" later.Use "one" in method, not in realm.At the state of mind, Buddhism uses "nothingness".Because there is "one", there are often "two".However, this method is very important in the process.Being unwavering is first a process, and it is absolutely effective to use this method in the process.This is the second realm.The third realm.After guarding oneself, guarding oneself becomes a wall of iron. The needle cannot be inserted into it, and the water cannot be poured into it. At this time, it is the front. =If you cannot arise, the thoughts will not arise afterwards, and the middle will be empty and silent. At this time, it is called the non-availability of a single thought.This is the third stage.It is not occasionally that no thought arises.It's not one minute or two minutes, not one day or two days, but it's like this for a long time.I believe many of you have come into contact with the quotations of the ancestors.Many ancestors said that he did not know how to do it for ten or twenty years, did not know how to sit, did not know how to eat, and his legs hurt.That means no thought arises.It means that there is no thinking to interfere with this pure heart, a bright heart, a clear and lonely heart.If this stage is maintained for a long time and the opportunity is ripe, or under the inspiration of the Buddha's words or the inspiration of a good teacher with a clear eye, it is possible to break the bottom of the bucket.What was that stage?It is the light of inspiration.When you see the light, and your whole body and mind are in a great light.It is not about a matter of minute by minute, but about being able to maintain that kind of bright state for a long time.And that kind of bright light is not what you imagined in your heart.But the real light is to penetrate the sky and the earth.Of course, only he can feel this light himself.This is an uncommon law, it is self-help, not others.The light of spirit shines alone is the state of enlightenment described by Zen Master Baizhang.At this time, our mind is completely purified and transformed, and it becomes wisdom, which is called transforming consciousness into wisdom.The spiritual light shines alone means turning the eighth consciousness into the great mirror wisdom, and turning the eighth consciousness into the great mirror wisdom, that is, seeing the Dharma body.The roots are out of touch with the dust, and the roots are not stained with dust.Being disconnect does not mean that your hands do not touch anything and your body does not sit on a stool.He still sat and contacted, but he just didn't distinguish.The roots and dust are completely free from discrimination, and everything is in the realm of perception."The light of spirit shines alone, and it is completely free from the dust.The body is revealed in a normal way, regardless of the words.” The language cannot be expressed.Just like a person drinks water, he knows the temperature and heat."The mind and nature are untainted and will be perfect.But if you are free from false causes, you will be like Buddha."When you reach this level, just keep your post.Be well protected, keep this spiritual light, keep the root and dust-free form of the body and the present state, and have no barriers to the Buddha nature you possess, completely breaking down all obstacles.Repair it well at this time.At this time, practice will result twice as much as possible with half the effort.This pursuit of enlightenment in life is the greatest pursuit and the most important thing in life.If you solve this problem, you can make a fortune and become a high-ranking official.During the Tang and Song dynasties, many high-ranking officials solved this problem.At that time, there were many great Zen masters and great good teachers. It was amazing to see them interacting with these great Zen masters and great good teachers.Even in the Song and Yuan dynasties, there were still many such people.We can't say that there are no such people now.There are still now.There was a Yelu Chucai in the Song and Yuan dynasties who also became a high-ranking official in our Beijing and the Yuan Dynasty.He was the one who met with the original person under the guidance of Wan Songxingxiu.Later he became the founding prime minister of the Yuan Dynasty, and he had a book called "The Complete Works of Mr. Zhanran".

It is very good that you can have this cause and confidence to participate in meditation.However, sitting here for two hours is not enough every day, so you have to insist on sitting at home.Only by treating this as the biggest thing can you truly be effective.Today, I was in Zhenji Zen Forest. In my last teaching of this meditation activity, I mentioned that we should build our family’s temple, and the family is the temple.Because the Vimalakirti Sutra says, what is a temple?All troubles are the temple.There is no need for a temple without worries. Only when there is worries need a temple.It is the skill to be a temple in troubles and treat troubles as a temple.What are worries?Troubles are our lives, and our lives are troubles.Without transformation, it is a trouble.What is converted?Transformation is a Buddhist ritual.Family is a temple, and life is a Buddhist ceremony.How do we use Zen thoughts and Zen concepts to transform our troubles and turn our family into a temple?This needs to be done step by step.It's useless to just talk.Today I have the opportunity to communicate with you.Make contributions and offerings from the above little bit.Question: Master, I would like to ask a question.It is how we treat others rude to ourselves in life, or look at things that I can’t stand?There are some people, such as patients in hospitals, prisoners in prisons, and those networms in Internet cafes. Some people are good, but some cannot be messed with. They scold you and yell at you.What attitude should we have towards such a group of people and such people?Answer: Tolerance.Because he is talking about him, don't contact him.Why do you have to contact him?What are you doing?You must cultivate the view of no self.Don’t think he is just scolding you, why bother with him?Ignore all worries and retreat.Or are we parting!I have to know that people living in hospitals and those who go to Internet cafes also want to curse people. There are many people in society who have no jobs, laid-offs, and people without jobs, who have no jobs, who have no jobs, who have to curse people.You have to know that he has realistic problems.Don’t say it’s difficult to cure the disease?Do you think he feels comfortable when you live in the hospital?Although the hospital is treating diseases and saving people, will it also happen in the name of curing diseases and slaughtering people as a practical matter?He doesn't scold him, he can't get over it.He has no food to eat, you can get a salary every month, but he has no salary to get it, and he has complaints in his heart.People who go to Internet cafes often want to be self-indulgent to numb themselves, and they may not necessarily want to live that kind of life.You must understand these people.Then we must work hard, contribute more to social harmony, contribute more to social development, and create more wealth to solve the difficulties of everyone's food, clothing, housing and transportation.To understand, you will know: Oh!These sounds are very important, and these sounds are urging us to do everything well.He is making demands on you, he is calling on you, hoping that you can help him, and hoping that you can understand him.You must not be like him (Gesture: Fist versus Fist ),Don't be in opposition;Want this (Gesture: Hold the fist of the right hand with your left palm ),Tolerate him.This is a very realistic question.We must understand those who cannot get their wages, and those who cannot survive, die, and have no money in the hospital bed.You have to understand these people.I was born a very poor person, so I understand the poor very much.good!Amitabha!I'm going back because tomorrow morning there will be a saint and universal Buddha in Zhenji Zen Forest.I hope that everyone will go to Zhenji Zen Forest to drink Laba porridge tomorrow!Starting tomorrow night, Yuquan Temple has two Zen sevens.If you are interested, you can also go there to participate in the september september.Lectured at Sanzi Zen Tea House on the evening of January 25, 2007
