A brief discussion on the social care of Buddhism Master Zhizong

Today I talk about the topic of Buddhist social care, which I thought was too difficult to talk about at the beginning.Because from a macro perspective, Buddhism itself is social care. If it is not for compassion for the suffering of sentient beings, Buddhism will not appear.Compared with India, Buddhism is a reformist school of Florida Buddhism. It talks about theory and what Buddhism does in the world, and it appears in the world with great causes and conditions.

The characteristic of Chinese Buddhism is the word "compassion". If you can be compassionate, you are Guanyin Bodhisattva and Buddha. So many of our masters say that I will mention it the same. How to promote Buddhism, how to cultivate immortality, how to be called human beings and doing things, to achieve the law with compassion, and to practice compassion with legality. No matter how good theories are, if they are not implemented in action, and not learning the great deeds of Samantabhadra Bodhisattva are all oral theories, and they are false tactics that only speak but not practice. In practicing, you must be compassionate in your life and doing things, practice them with compassion, and truly reflect your care for society.

This topic is hard to talk about because it is too much to talk about, and it is a cliché.In the past, when talking about Buddhism's social concerns focused more on the remembrance and memorialization of the history of Buddhist care. When talking about social care in the past, I tend to be more inclined to the nostalgia of the history of social care. The history of auction also originated from Buddhism. In the past, there was a lonely rule in the Buddhist system. When a monk passed away, he left a lot of things and hung them there. Whoever wants it, the deal was completed. Therefore, the auction system in modern society originated from Buddhism. There is also brushing teeth. After eating every day, it also originated from Buddhism. Without Buddhism, there would be no toothbrushes today. The Japanese called the toothpick to look for Yangzhi, and it was obvious that it was from the pure bottle of willows.

After Buddhism was introduced to China, Chinese people saw that it was very hygienic and picked their teeth after dinner. Inspired, they had today's toothpick toothbrush. But I want to say that Buddhism has too wide and deep influence on society. As an alien culture, Buddhist culture has now penetrated into the blood of the Chinese nation and has become the gene of our culture and is inseparable. There is a gap from influence to care.Literally, influence is a neutral word that may be positive, proactive, and negative, but care is not.Care contains great confidence, great enthusiasm, and great enthusiasm. The word "care" contains compassion, wisdom and wishes.Talking about the "Four Major Cares" of Buddhism, I think that in the past, the past has transitioned from the colorful history to today, with a broken scenery and a scattered wall. The old monk is not here today. If the old monk is here, I will definitely give me a hundred feet, which is a rebellion. It’s not that I sing the opposite tune, but that there is already a consensus in our Chinese Buddhist community."Legal Person" magazine is a journal of Chinese Buddhism. There is an article in it that criticizes the Buddhist community for not doing enough. There are three extremes: monks are aristocratic, only talking about seeking, not dedication, and not sacrifice. Thinking about it, this is the case.

When it comes to me, I also want to go out to take a taxi, but I don’t want to walk. The magazine suggested that there is no reason and no money to come, and the indifference of social charity activities is not something to do with oneself. We monks should reflect carefully. This has become a shortage of care for society, and a defect, and has become our biggest drawback at present.Few of them went out to teach Buddhism, and Buddhism was all in the temple and in the red walls.People in society understand Buddhism, and they all use compassion to cultivate compassion or dedication to society. Only compassion can be practiced. Through our compassion, we do not do enough. The current social reality also calls on our Buddhist groups to reappear on the stage of society as a folk charity force and exert their due power.I saw Renmin University of China undertake a country's task, namely, analytical and research on current society.Their reports tell us that if the current vulnerable population in urban and rural areas and laid-off citizens are combined to reach as much as 180 million, nearly 200 million, the lives and spirit of these people need our care and helping hand.According to relevant materials, in 2004, China's Gini coefficient had exceeded 0.47, exceeding the international warning line.

The gap between the rich and the poor in China is too serious and too severe, and has become an important factor that seriously threatens a harmonious society.Today I want to talk about this topic again, which is to respond to the call of the country and build a harmonious society. As Buddhists and as a charitable force among the people, society needs our compassion, our abilities, and our faith requires us to dedicate compassion.According to economic theory, the distribution of wealth is divided into three stages. The first is to use the market, to use labor, to provide financial distribution for the first time, to use the second, to use the national tax policy, to further tilt towards disadvantaged groups, or groups with slightly lack of ability. But as a harmonious society, these two times alone are not enough. The government is insufficient, the profit sector is insufficient, the market is insufficient, and who needs the part that is insufficient? We need the power of the people. This is the third allocation to make up for the shortcomings of the government and the market cannot be done by us. We must do our own responsibilities for dedication to build a harmonious society. As for how to subvert and how to do it, I am referring to two disadvantages here. It is a little different from the article written by experts. One aspect is what to do if you have money. With money, we are now organized and undisciplined. This is a line that is in the world. What does it mean to be organized and not disciplined? We have our own group and our own religious team. After the wealth accumulated by religion, we lack the planning for wealth and must be disciplined.I have talked to others about a problem. Learning from highly qualified multinational enterprises will shoulder their own financial responsibilities. Every year, there is a part of the wealth that needs to be charitable through proportion.I think this is very worthy of our religious groups, social and civil groups to learn from and continue. As the third type of wealth participation in wealth distribution, we need to make reasonable financial plans and regular publications, which not only wins the trust of the people, but also gains evidence from others. This is the first point.

The second point is that we are keen on building temples and are a little cold to social charity. We also do charity and pay a lot of money every year, but it is more of random charity. This year, South Asia is affected by disaster, so I donate some money. Is it okay to donate like this? But compared with our donations, our investment in temples and infrastructure is very expensive. Compared with the two, it is disproportionate, which is also a well-known phenomenon. So I think we need to do charity, and when we want to distribute wealth for the third time, we must truly shoulder the responsibilities we have to shoulder as a private charity force, and reverse the current two adverse effects. Only by doing this can we be qualified and proudly come to this forum and say what I did today.Amitabha.
