Master Yinguang said: The first condition for learning Buddhism is to make you believe in cause and effect, then you go to believe in cause and effect, you will not do wrong things, so the Buddha said, because we sentient beings do not believe in cause and effect, then follow your greed, hatred and ignorance habits to trouble, because you do not believe in cause and effect, so you will create murder, theft, adultery, evil mouth, double tongue, gossip, lies, you create these boundless sinful karma, so you fall into the three evil realms, so sentient beings have been in the six realms of reincarnation, collecting debts, paying debts, complaining, and there are very few people who repay their kindness. There are a lot of people who create karma in this world, and there are very few people who study Buddhism in this world, so sentient beings can't help but believe in cause and effect. The most important thing in Buddhism is to believe in cause and effect, the purpose of Buddhism is to do all evil, all good to pursue, self-purification of its will, this is the purpose of our study of Buddhism, Shakyamuni Buddha came to this world, he preached more than 300 times, said the Dharma for 49 years, that condensed is all evil do not do, all good practice, self-purification of its will, is all Buddhism.
If you don't believe in cause and effect, you will keep creating bad karma with your habits and troubles, then you have cause and effect, cause and effect are like shadows, this cause and effect is like our shadow, the shadow follows wherever we go, just like many people are smart, those are fake smart, just like some people do bad things in China, remit other people's money abroad, and then they go abroad, and then they go abroad, and there are many people like this. You think that he sent the money abroad and kept it in his own account, and then he went abroad to enjoy it and escaped, but although he escaped the laws of the country, he could not escape the law of cause and effect, because cause and effect are like shadows, unless you don't make a pretentious, you are a shadow, just like a camera, as long as he takes a shot, whether it is good or bad, this camera is like our heart, you will have a good shadow if you think well, and if you think badly, there will be a bad shadow, so you think you are doing bad things in your country Then you see that the whole world has now set up an international tribunal, and where you flee, people will catch you locally and send you to an international tribunal, this is cause and effect, he thinks that he will escape, but if he is caught, he will still sentence you, even if you escape from the international court, but the cause and effect are not happy at all.
There is a Cihang Bodhisattva in Taiwan, he is a bodhisattva in the flesh, a native of Fujian, and now he invites his bronze statue back to the mainland of the motherland for everyone to worship, because he is a generation of monks who have achieved the bodhisattva in the flesh, so he said: Although the Dharma nature is empty, many people think that it is empty, although the Dharma nature is empty, but the cause and effect are not happy at all, you create good retribution, and evil retribution is evil, just like acting in a movie, before you watch the movie, it is a white cloth, and the good and bad things that started to play the movie are all acting, and in the end, the good retribution of good things, the bad retribution of bad things, So in the end, the summary of the movie is to tell you that good will be rewarded with good, and evil will be rewarded with evil, then this society is the same, we watch the news, you see that those who do bad things, they can't stand the accusation of conscience, then in the end, he has to go to the public security bureau to surrender, and there are often some people like this. So when we repented just now, we said that people are not saints and sages, who can do nothing, who can change if they know their mistakes, and they are very good, so I said that there are two kinds of people in this world, the first kind of people are people who do not create bad karma, so how easy it is for you to create bad karma, who are the people who do not create bad karma, they are all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas who have created sentient beings in the coming world, arhats, otherwise they are those who believe in cause and effect, who are very aware of the Dharma and believe in cause and effect, and those who believe in cause and effect, they do not dare to do bad things in the slightest, so this is the person who does not create bad karma. The second type of person is the person who knows that he can change, because he knows that he can change, that is, he is very good, and this is also a very good thing, so we get the proof: many bad people have their conscience found out in the end, then in the end they will be a very good person, which is also a very good thing, people are not saints, we are not saints, and sages will not create bad karma, because we are not saints and sages, it is inevitable that we will create karma, but if you do something wrong, you must bravely admit it, and you have to change it.
I'll tell you a real example: just like we have a master named Zhang Neng, he often comes to the mainland of the motherland now, three steps and one worship to the mountain, he vows to come to the mainland of the motherland to the four famous mountains, this is very hard, just like the wind and rain outside, just like the old monk Xuyun, he worships from Putuo Mountain to Wutai Mountain, he is outside every day, has been kowtowing, three steps and one kowtow, then we are here like our Zhaoming Temple chanting Buddha Hall, how solemn, Quanfuding can be said to be the most solemn, but a few people come in to kowtow, that class , everyone will follow the class, just like we play the Buddha seven times, a thousand worships a day, if there are three hundred worships a day, maybe there will be few people the day after tomorrow, why, because the current people are too bad, as soon as you call him to improve, he ran away, so it is not easy to chant Buddha in the New Year, so our master Zhang Neng, he comes to the mainland of the motherland every year to worship outside, he can't eat enough, and he can't sleep well, why are people so hard? Without a cold bone, how can you get the fragrance of plum blossoms? If you have to endure hardship, you will become a master, what was Master Zhang Neng before? It's a hooligan, fighting everywhere, killing people, it's the first place, and finally being caught and locked up, and finally the closure is complete, fortunately he met Guanyin Bodhisattva, that Guanyin Bodhisattva woke him up in a dream, then why did the Bodhisattva wake him up, he and the Buddha are attached, we often say that the Buddha has a fate, the law has a fate, and the life has a fate, why do people believe in Buddhism, because there are good roots, just like why do you sit in the chanting hall of Zhaoming Temple, because you have a relationship with Amitabha Buddha, just like Zhaoming Temple is playing Buddha seven, you have to come to chant Buddha quickly, Because you have a relationship with the Buddha, you will come to participate in the seventh Buddha, so because of the enlightenment of Guanyin Bodhisattva, this Venerable Zhang Neng will not do bad things after coming out of prison and will change anew. Just like the Sixth Patriarch said, true cultivators don't have time to look at other people's mistakes, and they don't have time to talk about other people's mistakes, true practitioners don't have time to listen to other people's mistakes, and true practitioners don't have time to talk about other people's mistakes.
Just like I once went to Korea to attend a Buddhist conference with tens of thousands of people, and that event was very big, and when I went to the monastery, I saw that the monastery had Chinese characters written on it, and it was a great lay monk who had never seen a monk, that is, a lay monk would not look at the fault of the family, but would protect the Three Jewels, and protect the temple, and also support the monks, and he would like the Dharma to prosper, and he would not look at the faults of his family, but now the lay monk came to the monastery and said, "This master is not good, and the master said to me yesterday, that is, he often talks about other people's faults. Therefore, it is said in the Bodhisattva's Ten Wishes: Praise the Buddha, we not only do not lie, just like we have received the eight precepts of fasting today, there are eight precepts in the eight precepts, there are no killing, no stealing, no lust, no lying, this non-lying is to let you not talk nonsense, say less words, recite more Buddha, beat the Buddha to die, Xu Ru Dharma body lived, so you have to praise Nyorai, don't go to lie, praise the immeasurable merits of Nyorai, just like once we Shakyamuni Buddha and Maitreya Buddha were practicing, and the merits of this Maitreya Buddha are about to become Buddhas. It is faster than Shakyamuni Buddha, but why Shakyamuni Buddha surpassed him in the end, it was this mouth that surpassed him, because he praised the Buddha one day, saying Buddha Buddha Hello solemn, there is no Buddha in the heavens and the world, and the world is incomparable, everything I see in the world, and there is nothing like the Buddha, so he praises the merits and surpasses the Maitreya Buddha.
So now Maitreya Buddha is behind Shakyamuni Buddha, and we have to wait for 5.17 billion years, which is worthy of our surprise, whether it is in the family and the monk master can often praise others, you will grow half of the Buddha, so we often talk about monks and praise monks, Buddhism and Dharma, this is not bad, then if the family and the family praise each other, your family will be very prosperous, the family and everything is prosperous, if the family is harmonious, it is to praise each other, the wife praises Mr., the husband praises the wife, and the children are very filial. If the family beats and scolds every day, and the children are not filial, then the family will be in chaos, so a student of Buddhism, we should pay attention, we should not look at the mistakes of others, regardless of the monks at home, we learn from the Buddha to praise the Buddha, so that our Dharma will prosper, we will all progress, just like the Sixth Patriarch said, true practitioners meditate and think about it too much, so the purpose of the precepts is to stop evil and do good, to save sentient beings to cultivate happiness and wisdom, and to cultivate to the full attainment of Buddhahood The perfection of the eight precepts is the four precepts, the fundamental precepts: not killing, not stealing, not lustful, not lying, and the root of the precepts is lust.
The patriarch said a word, but all the feelings, there is no other holy solution, you can cut off the habit of lust, you can become a Buddha, the Buddha appeared in the world is to tell this truth, to we slowly cut off the habit of trouble, the precepts are very simple, where is the difficulty, the Dharma is easy to understand, it is difficult to break the habit, why the Elysium is divided into nine lotus, is to give you the habit of breaking, but also the Buddha's clever convenience, just like the country's education why there are national elementary schools, middle schools, doctors, the most important thing is to cultivate talents, to educate everyone to become a Buddha as soon as possible!
