Chapter 9: Questioned by Bodhisattvas who purify all karma

Therefore, the Bodhisattva of Pure Karma stood up from his seat among the masses, prostrated himself to the ground, worshiped the Buddha devoutly, and circled the Buddha three times clockwise, showing his incomparable respect.Then he knelt on his knees, crossed his hands and said respectfully to the Buddha:

“The compassionate World Honored One!You have explained to us all these incredible states and the methods of all Tathagata practicing in the causal state.Let us all gain something we have never seen before.It seems that I have seen with my own eyes the scene of the Buddha, you, who have been practicing diligently and hard for countless kalpas, as well as all kinds of merits and wonderful uses.And all this seems to happen in a moment.All the Bodhisattvas here feel joy and comfort from the bottom of their hearts.”

“World Honored One, if this enlightened mind is originally pure, why would it be contaminated?This will make all sentient beings confused and unable to return to their original purity?I hope that the Buddha will give us all in detail the key points of enlightening the Dharma nature, and help the Bodhisattvas and sentient beings in the Dharma-Ending Age as the wisdom eye for future liberation.”

After the Bodhisattva purifies all karma and asks the Dharma, he prostrates himself again and worships the Buddha.I asked three times in devout manner like this, from beginning to end, in an orderly manner.

At this time, the Buddha replied to the Bodhisattva Pure All Karma and said, “It’s great, very good!Good man, you can ask the Buddha about such an amazing method for all the Bodhisattvas here and sentient beings in the Dharma-Ending Age.Now please listen carefully, Tathagata will explain to you.”

Therefore, the Bodhisattvas who purify all karma became happy due to the teachings of the World Honored One, and listened quietly to the Dharma with the great Bodhisattvas who were in the meeting.The Buddha said:

“Dear men, all sentient beings have been attached to having a self for countless kalpas because of their delusions;Be persistent in having relatives, friends and others outside of me;Be obsessed with all beings outside of me;I am also attached to the continuous life span of self, humans, and sentient beings.If you falsely recognize these four inverted views as your true self, you will develop two states of hatred and love;The more false attachment to these false cognitions will be further developed.Therefore, these two false thoughts grow up by dependent on each other, resulting in false karma causes and conditions.Because of false karma, we can see the cycle of life and death with our false mind.Those who are tired of the flow of life and death, with their false hearts, see the so-called Nirvana that is indestructible.It is precisely because all sentient beings have false minds that they cannot return to the original pure and complete consciousness.It is not the sentient beings who can return to the consciousness. If someone thinks that there is really a pure consciousness that can be returned to the consciousness, it is no longer the correct way to return to the consciousness.”

“Therefore, whether it is a thought or a temporary calming of delusion, sentient beings are often trapped in confusion and depression.Why?Because there is the habit of ignorance that has been indecisive for countless kalpas, it is dominating one's own heart.To be honest, all sentient beings are born without the eyes of wisdom, and all the habits in their body and mind are ignorance.For example, most people refuse to give up their lives.So it should be known that there is something that loves and protects itself.It hopes that everything around it will follow and serve itself. If it encounters situations where it does not follow its own wishes, it will develop hatred and complaints.It is precisely because the heart of hatred and love continues to nourish the seeds of ignorance that even if you continue to practice the path of enlightenment, you cannot achieve success.”

“Dear men, what is my appearance?It refers to the state that all sentient beings have attained in the minds of themselves.A good man, for example, there is a person who is well-treated and has a comfortable whole body.Suddenly, I seemed to have reached the state of selflessness, and I seemed to have forgotten myself and my body.Once the limbs are weak and numb due to improper care, he needs to use acupuncture or mugwort moxibustion to treat it. As long as he stumbles acupuncture, he will know that he still has self-awareness.Therefore, only when there is something to realize and take something can one express the false body of the ignorant self.Dear men, someone’s mind, even thinking that having attained the state of Tathagata and having finally understood and understood the law of pure Nirvana is called self-image.”

“Dear men, what is human appearance?It refers to the content that all sentient beings have realized and attained in the hearts.Good man, after you regard the realm of enlightenment as me, you no longer need to confirm yourself.And outside the state of enlightenment, there are still many things to be realized;The contents beyond the realm of self-evidentity that you have realized are called human appearances.Dear men, someone’s heart and even the perfect enlightenment of Nirvana Buddhahood are called self-image;As long as there is still a little enlightenment in your heart, even thinking that you have fully realized the wonderful principles of Dharma nature, it is called human appearance.”

“Dear men, what is the appearance of sentient beings?It refers to the minds of all sentient beings, a state that cannot be reached by self-evident self-enlightenment.Good man, for example, some people will say this, I am a sentient being.So we should know that the sentient beings he talks about are neither me nor him;It does not belong to the self nor to the human form.Why not me?Because I am a sentient being, sentient beings are not just me.Why not him?Because he and I are sentient beings, sentient beings are not just him and me.Dear men, all sentient beings have attained and realized the states of self and human nature;If you can do it, it is my appearance, and what you do is the appearance of a person.And besides the self-image and the human-image, there are still many states that can be understood, called the appearance of sentient beings.”

“Dear men, what is life span?It refers to the process and state of enlightenment and enlightenment of all sentient beings, who observe the pure nature with a discriminating mind.All discriminating wisdom generated by karma cannot see oneself.It’s like people’s lives themselves cannot find themselves.Good man, if someone's heart can reflect all consciousness, his so-called illumination and consciousness are like dust and dirt on the mirror.The reason why we can feel and what we are aware of has not yet left the dust and dirt.It was like after hot water melted the ice, there was no other piece of ice, and I knew the ice was melted.If there is another person who knows that I have realized it, the truth will be the same, which means that I have not truly realized it.”

“Dear men, sentient beings in the Dharma-Ending Age do not understand the four aspects;Although after many lifetimes of hard work and hard practice, it can only be called good deeds with good deeds, and in the end, it cannot achieve the fruit of any saint who is born.Therefore, it is called the end of the Dharma.What's the reason?Because I mistakenly recognize all kinds of self as a result of Nirvana and liberation;The self that has both enlightenment and enlightenment is called the result of the achievement of practice.It's like someone who recognizes a thief as a child, and his family's gold, silver and treasures are destined to be unable to be kept.”

“What is the reason?It is precisely because of me and the love for me that I am greedy for me and pursue Nirvana.So in the practice of practicing, the roots of love for oneself are deeply hidden, so that it can manifest itself as pure nirvana.How can this achieve success?The same goes for the other hand. Some people of the Two Vehicles have a heart that hates themselves, so they also hate the cycle of life and death.They don’t know that the heart of hatred and love is the real root of life and death!If there is still a heart that hates life and death and the world in practice, it is called not yet liberated.”

“How do you know that someone has not yet achieved liberation in practicing the Dharma?Dear men, those sentient beings who practice the Bodhi path in the Dharma-Ending Age often regard their minor enlightenment as the original purity of their own nature, and have not yet been able to eliminate the root of self-image.If someone praises the method he has practiced, he will feel happy and want to help save the other person.If someone slanders and belittles his achievements in his practice, he will develop anger and resentment.This shows that his self-image is still firmly maintained, lurking in the Alaya consciousness, often playing games and playing in the six senses without knowing it, never interrupting.”

“Dear men, those who practice the path of enlightenment do not know how to eliminate the self, so they cannot return to the pure consciousness.Good man, if I really know that my appearance is empty, there is nothing that can belittle or hurt me.If you think there is something I can say, it is because the self has not been eliminated yet.If the human appearance is not removed, the sentient beings and the life expectancy will be the same, and the pure consciousness cannot be returned to.”

“Dear men, sentient beings in the Dharma-Ending Age call various diseases Buddhism, so the Tathagata calls them pitiful people.Although they practice diligently and diligently, they are just constantly increasing various diseases, so they cannot return to their original pure and perfect consciousness.Dear men, if sentient beings in the Dharma-Ending Age cannot eliminate the four aspects;However, the wisdom explained by the Tathagata and inner mind and actions are regarded as one's own practice, and in the end they will not achieve success.There are also some sentient beings who have not attained enlightenment but say that they have attained enlightenment;He has not attained the fruit, but he says he has attained the fruit;When you see someone who is more than you, you will feel jealous.Because these sentient beings cannot eliminate the self-image and love and hate, they cannot return to the pure consciousness.”

“Dear men, for sentient beings who hope to achieve enlightenment in the Dharma-Ending Age, they should not be allowed to pursue enlightenment.Otherwise, it will only increase their knowledge and their self-knowledge.Instead, they should be allowed to diligently subdue their troubles and develop a strong and brave heart.Strive to understand the Dharma principles and doctrines that you do not understand;Try to eliminate the unbreakable habits of troubles and habits.Gradually, when facing various states, greed, hatred, contempt, inconsistent in appearance, jealousy, etc. will not arise again.Those you, me, love, hate, etc., all false distinctions will return to nirvana.People like this, Buddha said they can gradually achieve success.At the same time, you should study from good teachers with destiny to avoid falling into the wrong views.However, if they still have the desire to love and hate the method they are seeking, they will still not be able to return to the original pure sea of consciousness.”

At this time, in order to reiterate the Dharma meaning, the Buddha said in the form of a verse:

“Bodhisattvas who purify all karma should know that all sentient beings in the three realms of reincarnation should be aware of;

All of them have been vainly flowing for countless kalpas because of their attachment to loving me.

Failure to get rid of the attachments to the four aspects, so it is impossible to achieve Bodhi.

Love and hate always arise from the heart, and there is no discrimination between the inside and outside;

Therefore, he is trapped in confusion and depression and cannot return to the city of consciousness.

If you want to return to the state of consciousness, you must first give up greed, anger, ignorance and arrogance;

If you do not have any thoughts of love and hate in the Dharma, you can achieve success by practicing and studying it gradually.

You should know that I don’t have it, so where does the heart of hatred and love come from?

If you study from a good teacher with fate, you will never fall into evil views;

If you distinguish between love and hate from what you have learned, you will not be able to achieve success.”
