问：为什么说三皈依是诸戒之根本？

答：戒为正顺解脱之本，亦为无上菩提之本。但所有戒律的受持奉行，都是建立于对三宝的信心之上。无论是受持五戒、八戒，还是沙弥戒，都是通过皈依，通过对三宝的宣誓来纳受戒体。我们对戒的信仰，关键取决于对三宝的信仰。若对三宝不具信心，就不会以纯粹的求解脱之心受戒，即使因为种种原因而受戒，也难以认真持戒，守护不失。

其实，不仅是戒律，一切法门的修行都未离开对三宝的信心。无论是出离心、菩提心的生起，还是持戒修定、深信因果、了知无常，莫不如此。可以说，对三宝的信心达到什么程度，对佛法的实践就会达到什么程度。如果是坚信修行能成就解脱，能够一丝不苟地依教奉行吗？尤其当习气与修行发生冲突时，若没有完全的信仰，又靠什么来抵挡习气干扰，坚定修行步伐呢？

唯有对三宝具足决定信心，才会依循佛陀教诲身体力行，真履实践。所以，皈依三宝不仅是诸戒之本，也是一切修行法门的根本。
