A true story of reincarnation told by Master Yinguang

A true story of reincarnation told by Master Yinguang

During the Taiping Xingguo period of the Song Dynasty, there was a monk with the Dharma name Biancong, who traveled to Wutai Mountain, which was midsummer, so he could live in Qingliang Temple with the monks. At that time, there was an old monk among the monks, who behaved crazy, and the public looked down on him, but Biancong was respectful to him.

After the summer is complete, Biancong will continue to travel. When he said goodbye to the old monk, the old monk took out a letter from his arms and instructed him: Go to the north of Kaifeng City, find a man named mint and send the letter to him!

Biancong bid farewell to Wutai Mountain, and after walking for a while, he found that the old monk had not given the address, and muttered in his heart: The address is unknown, where to start? I don't know what is important in the letter? It was not easy to go around Wutai Mountain, so I opened the letter and looked at it, which read: You have been wandering in the world for a long time, are those beings easy to subdue? If you have been subdued, the matter of saving your life will be completed, you can return quickly, stay too long, you may be defeated by strong karma, and the karma will flow into the world. Biancong was shocked after reading it, and hurriedly sealed the letter again.

One day, Biancong passed by the Guangji River in Kaifeng and heard a group of children calling from a distance: Mint! Mint! Biancong went over and asked: Who is mint? Where are the others? The child pointed to a pigsty of a family surnamed Zhao and said: The big pig with a bronze bell on its neck and golden mane in the pigsty is called mint.

Biancong went to the pig farmer surnamed Zhao and asked the owner: Why is this pig called mint?

The owner said: This pig is very special, loves cleanliness, and only eats mint, so the children in the village call him mint. Usually when a butcher comes to catch a pig, the other pigs are afraid to run around and escape, and if the pig is led to the mint, it will be quiet, and it will not run around and wail, and let the butcher slaughter it. Therefore, in the future, the butcher will lead the mint to the side of the pigs waiting to be slaughtered, and go around in a circle, saving the tragic struggle and wailing when slaughtering pigs in the past. So the family cherished him very much and was reluctant to kill him for many years.

After hearing this, Biancong shouted: Mint! I have a letter for you! The big pig jumped up on its front feet when it heard the sound, Biancong threw the letter over, the pig swallowed it in one bite, maintained a posture like a human standing, and then migrated and died.

This story comes from the "Qingliang Mountain Chronicle" revised by Master Yinguang, and the mint pig turned out to be a latent bodhisattva who was in order to save sentient beings and ride the power of great compassion and wishes. Bodhisattvas should use the pig body as a way to inspire the wishful pearls in the hearts of all beings.

From this, we can see that those who persuade us to enter Buddhism, approach Buddhism, enter Buddhism, coax us into Buddhism, deceive Buddhism, draw us closer, buy Buddhism, and sell Buddhism, and those who provide us with opportunities to give, practice, eliminate karma, chant Buddha, and chant scriptures.
